Here are some of my favorite non-portrait photo’s I’ve took on the Bannack trip. All of these photos was done with ambient lighting and also bracketing. I’m very happy how they turned out as well.

Here are my potrait shots from the Bannack trip! What a great experience especially the models where so much fun and easy to work with in posing them and getting the shots!

Auxiliary Lighting:

This first photo was taken with an external flash. I had someone hold the flash out of frame on the right so when I took the picture his face isn’t in the shadows. Also it gives me an opportunity to be able to get some of the gloomy sky in the background.

 

This next photo was taken with a speed light. The room was very dark and it was a struggle trying to get the flash speed not to fast with the light especially there were other photographers around me and it kept on triggering the other flashes. But I do enjoy the harsh shadows that brings the picture to life.

 

 

For this photo I wasn’t really sure what light I used but it was a steady light with a softbox on it. The power was really low but it gave a cool effect on his glasses. But I just ended up creating a bracket on this photo. Really enjoy the look the model is portraying.

 

This photo was accomplished by using a reflector. The reflector was white and this photo was taken when the clouds cleared up so the lighting was getting a bit stronger. But with the reflector on the bottom right of the model really helped getting an even lighting.

 

For this shot we were having trouble with the flash with many attempts so I just ended up using my camera’s internal bracketing. There wasn’t that much color editing that was used in this photo. Most of the colors was straight from the camera internal program doing it automatically.

Here are my creative photos from the Bannack trip on Tuesday. Getting these shots really made me feel more connected with my camera and it gave me a better understanding on how to balance light through the camera using iso, shutter speed,  and aperture.

Conceptual

Had to capture a picture that tells a story. Not going to explain much about the picture. I would rather have the viewer figure it out them selfs.

ABSTRACT : 

Since it rained earlier during the day I was able to take a picture of the window and focused on the little drops of water on it.

LEVITATION: 

Had a group member sit on a chair and then took another photo with out the chair and her for a clean slate. This photo took a while to mask since I had to consider masking not just the chair out but also the shadow that the chair was casting.

GHOST: 

For this shot I set the shutter speed very low about 5 seconds and had my friend sit on the piano and then walk out of frame to create this pretty neat effect.

COMMERCIAL: 

With the gun prop I had for my conceptual shot I decided to create a add for a gun store. Had to skew the wording to match with the angle of the picture.

This is my photo series from the Bannack trip! I saw this old motor in the field and the textures were very interesting so I took a series of 5 photos of it’s texture with the brown dull color of the outside and the textures of the torn up cables on the inside.

For this assignment it was very tricky this past weekend since I had to shoot a wedding film out in Napa, California and it was raining. Luckily Monday (today) right before I head to the airport to fly back to Idaho the sky cleared and I saw this park with a beautiful fountain in Natomas, California which is only 10 mins from the sacramento Airport. The main thing in the image is the fountain. I was using a 24-105mm lens but I wish I could of brought my 70-200mm to get more of close up shot of the water to get more of a better variety of perspective.
